From this in situ study of the element diffusion of NiAu nanospindles annealed in vacuum, four distinct stages can be identified, (i) polyhedron recrystallization of Ni matrix (b); (ii) facets-selected segregation and recrystallization of Au component (c); (iii) single crystallization of Ni matrix (d); (iv) wrapping diffusion of Au component (e and f).
