Ubiquitin binds to the silver nanoparticle via specific interactions, where a small subset of protein residues makes contact with the surface atoms of the nanoparticle. Under a high protein/nanoparticle stoichiometry, ubiquitins formed a multi-layer corona on the particle surface.
