A new synthetic method for fabrication of yolk-shell powders with a low melting temperature is demonstrated. The fabrication of yolk-shell V2O5 powders is performed by using a simplified two-step process involving spray pyrolysis and combustion. The yolk-shell V2O5 structure exhibits excellent electrochemical performance as cathode material for Li-ion batteries.
