The pathways represent the redox reduction of I3- to I- on Cocore-Ptshell and Pt CNCs. The Cocore-Ptshell catalyst gains a valence charge rich surface to facilitate the I3- reduction by the strong expansive lattice strain at Pt shell atoms from the core crystal.
